Colorado Springs Utilities is the latest and largest city-owned utility to implement The Broadband Group’s Utility Lease Model™. The citywide fiber network will enhance customer service capabilities and serve as a foundation for future grid modernization and operational needs. At the same time, spare fiber capacity will enable high-speed Internet access across every corner of Colorado Springs. Once complete, the network will pass more than 200,000 addresses, bringing modern fiber infrastructure to all of Colorado Springs Utilities’ residential and business customers.

Assignment

The Broadband Group advised the Utility across all phases of the program—from comprehensive financial modeling and business case validation to network design strategy and securing a long-term anchor tenant. During deployment, TBG Network Services is providing construction oversight and ongoing engineering support to ensure delivery aligns with project specifications and timelines.

Achievements

Ting Internet was named the network’s anchor tenant in January 2022 and now delivers symmetrical gigabit broadband services to homes and businesses, marking a major milestone in the project’s rollout.
