Huntsville Utilities Accepting Bids for 1,000 Miles of Fiber Installation

TBG client, Huntsville Utilities, is accepting bids for fiber installation of the Huntsville Utilities broadband network.  Google Fiber will lease access to the network to provide gigabit Internet services to residents and businesses.

“Huntsville has moved one step closer to become a gig city and bringing in Google Fiber. Huntsville Utilities is now accepting bids to install more than a thousand miles of fiber network.

All bids are due back by June 3 and according to the legal notice, Huntsville Utilities will only look at general contractors who have performed similar type work during the last five years.

The project must also be completed in the next 36 months and Gehrdes said they’re right on schedule to hit that mark and they credit Google for that.”
