MeadWestvaco is adding apartments to the initial build-out of their master-planned development, Nexton.

The Summerville community broke ground on a 100,000-square-foot office building last week, marking the start of construction of the 4,500-acre community.

For the apartments, MeadWestvaco is partnering with The Beach Co. The complex will feature 320 apartment units, a fitness center, business center, saltwater pool and garages. The Parks is expected to be available for occupancy later this year.

The first phase of the mixed-use development will include restaurants, hotels and The Parks apartments. A Marriott Courtyard hotel is expected to open in 2014, while some offices are expected to open later this year.
