Las Vegas, NV – The Broadband Group, a national Telecommunications Consulting Firm announced today it has been selected by Newland Communities, Symphony Park development manager for the city of Las Vegas, to direct, lead and manage the telecommunications, telemetry, energy and system control elements of the mixed use development in Las Vegas. The city of Las Vegas and Newland Communities are currently developing Symphony Park, a 61- acre mixed-use urban community located in the heart of downtown Las Vegas. At Symphony Park, sustainability is a guiding principle for the plan and development overall. Symphony Park was chosen as the only Nevada community to be part of the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Neighborhood Development (LEED®-ND) green building rating system. The community has been awarded Gold certification status under stage 2 by LEED®-ND.

This progressive and green downtown neighborhood is home to some of Las Vegas’ largest economic, cultural, and civic projects, including Symphony Park, the two-acre open space and core of Symphony Park. The plan for Symphony Park identifies four distinct districts organized in a series of small urban blocks with pedestrian-friendly accessibility and featuring street-facing retail and restaurants throughout. The four districts are defined as: the Civic District (anchored by The Smith Center for the Performing Arts and including Symphony Park and The Charlie Palmer boutique hotel), the Specialty District (wide range of hospitality, specialty retail, including the World Jewelry Center and a hotel/casino being developed by Forest City), the Residential District (true urban neighborhoods with a mix of high-rise, town homes developed by Newland Communities), and the Medical Office District (anchored by the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health).

“Symphony Park represents the future of Las Vegas, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to define and showcase some of the world’s most advanced technologies including fiber optic broadband services coupled with telemetry applications, green building standards, Internet Protocol Security and Life Safety, and related IP applications,” said Nathan Vineyard, TBG’s Director of Engineering and the Project Manager for this Symphony Park assignment. “We are creating the Technology Master Plan™ for Symphony Park that will address every aspect of connectivity, personal safety, system control and management and intra community communications. We commend the city for its unique vision and are honored to play a role in meeting its bold objectives. This innovative planning is exactly what today’s economy needs and will help to ensure the economic development success of the city for many years to come.”

As Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman states on the Symphony Park website (symphonypark.com), “This exciting project will redefine Las Vegas as a world-class city with culture, cutting-edge medical treatment and research, and true urban living in an environment that respects the city’s precious resources.”
