In memory of a visionary, an educator, an innovator, a mentor, and a friend.

Thomas A. Reiman, Founder of The Broadband Group (TBG) and TBG Network Services Inc. (TBGNS), has been active in the field of telecommunications and land development since 1979.  Through his combination of land entitlement, development, and telecom expertise, Tom leads TBG and TBGNS in representing many of America’s largest Cities, Utilities, and Master Planned Communities. TBG’s influence and planning expertise has been instrumental in the creation of high-fiber broadband connected communities throughout the nation.

TBGNS is currently contracted to manage the engineering, design, construction, and activation of a 1,000-mile fiber network serving Huntsville Utilities (Huntsville, AL). The network’s initial tenant, Google Fiber, leases excess capacity to serve Residential passings throughout the city.

In August of 2019, TBGNS client, City Utilities of Springfield, Missouri, announced the launch of their 1,100-mile fiber network expansion project.  Through the same Utility Lease Model structure employed in Huntsville, CenturyLink will serve as the Anchor Tenant and provide broadband services throughout the city.

While continuing to serve key Land Development clients such as Brambleton in Northern Virginia, in January 2011, The Broadband Group was awarded the contract to engineer, operate, and manage the implementation of the Nevada Broadband Telemedicine Initiative (NBTI). Funded under the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP), the $19.6 million grant created a private, custom designed broadband network built specifically to meet the health care needs of the State of Nevada. TBG was a shareholder of Nevada Broadband Networks, Inc., the operating entity of the NBTI and co-recipient of the BTOP grant. Nevada Broadband Networks was successfully sold to Las Vegas based Switch Communications in February 2016.
